Monday, several South Baton Rouge civic groups met. With the help of Metro Councilwoman Tara Wicker, they laid out plans to bring back economic vitality to the neighborhood.

There's a long list of projects to be done, but better housing for the community, and economic development along the main corridors will be the priority focus for redevelopment.

Those who live in South Baton Rouge, hope to bring back a vibrant business sector to help stabilize the area.

"We need roofs done, remodeling, streets need to be done," said South Baton Rouge Civic Association President Cynthia Jones. "Everybody can do something to help each other."

"South Baton Rouge is at a pivotal point," said Councilwoman Wicker. "I always say it's a neighborhood poised for greatness. Housing and economic development are critical."

Wicker said she'll work on gaining support from the rest of the Metro Council for the projects in South Baton Rouge.
