BATON ROUGE, LA — MY Fest is a free community event planned and produced by the MY LIFE (Magellan Youth Leaders Inspiring Future Empowerment) youth groups in Baton Rouge and Shreveport to raise awareness about mental health, substance use, foster care, juvenile justice and other issues facing youth and young adults.
The event will feature live performances by bands, hip-hop artists, dance crews and more, as well as games, a rock wall, bounce houses, face-painting, arts and crafts, prizes and food, all at no cost to attendees. Over 40 youth and family-based organizations will also be on hand to offer inspiration, resources and services for attendees. MY LIFE groups have planned and produced 11 MY Fest events nationally that have inspired and educated more than 30,000 attendees, and now it’s time for Louisiana youth to have their own MY Fest experience.
WHY: MY LIFE Louisiana groups were launched in 2012 by Magellan Behavioral Health of Louisiana, in conjunction with the Louisiana Behavioral Health Partnership, to help youth and young adults ages 13 through 23 overcome challenges and have a voice in Louisiana’s youth serving systems.
