Carnival season started back on January 6, but the first parade will roll down the streets of Baton Rouge this Saturday.

The Krewe of Jupiter is the first parade to kick off Mardi Gras festivities in the Capital City, according to VisitBatonRouge.com

A total of seven parades will roll throughout Mardi Gras in Baton Rouge from February 15 to March 1.

February 15, 2014

Krewe of Jupiter Parade 6:30 PM
The parade begins at the corner of Government and St. Philip Streets, and ending at the corner of Convention Street & S. River Road, according to Baton Rouge’s Downtown Development District. This year’s theme is "Romancing the Ages." The krewe will be riding masks and costumes. Also expect the krewe to throw parade medallions, swords, footballs, cups, plush animals, doubloons, lighted throws, and beads. Click here for the parade route and forecast

February 16, 2014

Mystic Krewe of Mutts Parade 11:00 AM
Parade begins at North Boulevard and St. Ferdinand Street, turning North at 8th Street and ending at North Boulevard and Fourth Street. This a family-oriented parade, featuring Mardi Gras colored costumes and pet-sized floats.
The parade is organized by the Capital Area Animal Welfare Society, a local non-profit animal rescue organization.
CAAWS lets you register your dog’s float, anything you can push or pull down the street, like a wagon is allowed. The parade also gives out prizes for Best Costume, Group Costume, and Float.

Krewe of Artemis Parade 7:00 PM
Parade begins and ends at the corner of Government Street and St. Philip Street. This year’s theme is "Come Rock 'N' Roll With Artemis."
Revelers will be treated with themed throws, including the Krewe of Artemis' signature high heeled shoe, along with footballs, tambourines, stuffed animals, float beads and lighted throws. Click here for: parade route and forecast

February 22, 2014

Krewe of Mystique Parade 2:00 PM
The city's oldest parade, that started back in 1977, begins and ends at the corner of Government and St. Philip Streets. Expect at least 12 floats, costumes, beads, and plenty of marching bands. Click here for: parade route and forecast

Krewe of Orion Parade 6:30 PM
Begins and ends at the corner of Government Street and St. Philip Street. Parade goers will be treated to a lineup of exciting, colorful traditional lighted and tractor-pulled floats. Following the This year’s theme is "Legends and Landmarks," each float will be decorated to depict well known area people and places. Riders will throw plenty of parade medallions, footballs, cups, plush animals, swords, doubloons, lighted throws, and beads. Marching bands, as well as riding. Krewe of Southdowns Parade 7:00 PM
The parade's facebook page says it will be celebrating its 27th run this year. This parade begins at Pickett Avenue and ends at the corner of Cloverdale and Perkins Road.

Krewe of Spanish Town Parade 12:00 PM
Parade begings and ends on State Capitol Drive and Spanish Town Road. The parade features a minimum of 100 floats, so organizers recommend you arrive early and bring lawn chairs.

It would really be nice if you reported that the Addis MARDI Gras Parade is February 23rd at 1 pm. Please don't leave Addis out.
