Community volunteers are working hard to make this year's Christmas meal special for needy guests at the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Room located at 220 St. Vincent de Paul Place.

From 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Christmas Day, volunteers will serve up a traditional Christmas meal to the many hungry and homeless guests who come to us in search of compassion and hope.

Downtown Baton Rouge is pretty quiet on Christmas Day, but that’s not the case at St. Vincent de Paul. This year, the organizaion will have their Christmas Store in the parking lot. Adult guests will be able to pick out their own Christmas present. Many of the guests never receive gift cards or certificates, so the organization is giving them a free gift card to use at the Christmas Store so they don’t have to miss out on receiving a gift. For children, volunteers will provide a Christmas gift to every child who eats there.

St. Vincent de Paul is anticipating several hundred needy guests on this special day. Throughout the year, thousands of volunteers help operate the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Room. As the largest hot meal provider in the community, our Dining Room relies on the support of volunteers in our daily struggle to combat hunger.

This year, the organization will serve approximately 240,000 nutritious meals (a new all time record) to the poor, homeless and elderly. The homeless and needy will not feel hunger pangs this Christmas because of the generosity of so many volunteers.
