Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Nearly 500 senior citizens got Christmas surprises today.
It's part of Home Instead Senior Care's ‘Be a Santa For a Senior' program.
Today, seniors thought they were getting their monthly food supply from the food bank, but there was a special gift with that delivery.
"This is the personal highlight of my Christmas year,” stated Sandy Hull with Home Instead Senior Care. “We know that these seniors are needy, and to see their faces when they get that unexpected surprise that goes above and beyond their monthly food that they are expecting – it’s phenomenal."
The seniors were chosen by based on their incomes. NBC33 was told the gifts and food help prevent seniors from making a tough choice between paying for food and basic necessities.
