"Jumpin' On The Bayou" Jump Rope Workshop

On February 11, 2012, the Parkview Baptist School Heart 'n Soul Jump Rope Team will host the “Jumpin’ on the Bayou” jump rope workshop at ExerFit Family Fitness, 7222 Bluebonnet Blvd., Baton Rouge, La., to teach jump rope skills to children kindergarten and older of all abilities. Adults are also invited to participate. In addition to some of the team’s older jumpers, there will be guest instructors from Washington, Idaho, Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina and Texas.
Members of Parkview Baptist School’s Heart ‘n Soul Jump Rope Team regularly perform and teach all around the States and in many other countries around the world. They have appeared on various television shows including the Disney movie “Jump In” and on “America’s Best Dance Crew,” and most recently in Cirque Dreams Holidaze productions. They are regular performers at the New Orleans Hornets basketball games, as well as various college games. The group also performs at a variety of events including corporate functions, and charitable functions such as Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Miracle Network fairs, Kiwanis Club events, opening ceremonies of the Special Olympics, American Heart Association’s Heart Walk and Jump Rope for Heart, and many others.

In addition to performing and teaching, Heart ‘n Soul has enjoyed great success in regional, national, and international competitions. Most of the team members have achieved national ranking and several are national, grand national, and international champions.

Jump rope is one of the most fun and effective ways to improve overall levels of fitness and develop strength, agility, balance, and coordination. It is also an exciting and rapidly growing competitive sport in the United States and abroad.

Registration for the event will begin at 8 a.m. and will continue until the workshop begins at 8:45 a.m. At 3:15 p.m., participants will present a staff parade and free community show. The fee to participate is $35. Beginner jump ropes will be available for $5 and workshop t-shirts for $12. Lunch will be available for $6.
