NBC NATIONAL NEWS — Old friends get together for a slice of "pie" in "American Reunion." This fourth chapter of the "American Pie" series reunites the original 1999 cast for a long weekend. While some remain just as juvenile as they were in high school, others have grown up and gotten married. But that doesn't stop old hang-ups and insecurities from revealing themselves at the most inopportune times.
Paul Dano meets his dad in "Being Flynn." Based on a true story, Dano plays a young writer who hasn't seen his father in nearly two decades...that is until the eccentric Robert Deniro shows up at the homeless shelter where his abandoned son is working. At a loss for how to deal with his father's mental illness and his own emotional scars, Dano tries to repair the damage by writing about it.
Let the winning spirit wash over you in "Chariots of Fire." This new to Blu-Ray release won the 1982 Best Picture Oscar for its portrayal of British runners in the 1924 Olympics. One was a Scottish missionary who ran to please God; the other, a Jew trying to prove his worth in Cambridge society.
Christian Bale is trapped in a war zone in "The Flowers of War." He plays an American in China at the start of WWII. When Japanese forces invade, he finds refuge in a church occupied by both innocent schoolgirls and perfumed painted-ladies. Bale finds himself acting as protector, determined to lead the girls away from the horrors taking place outside the church walls.
