LSU School of Veterinary Medicine hosts Pets & Vets

Baton Rouge, La — The LSU School of Veterinary Medicine is hosting Pets & Vets, its annual children’s educational program, beginning June 5 and ending June 26. Pets & Vets features various topics regarding veterinary medicine and basic information about pet and animal care.
There is no admission fee, but pre-registration is requested and donations are welcome. The program is open to all children ages 6 and up. Parents are invited to attend the presentations with their children. The 2012 Pets & Vets schedule is as follows (though the schedule and topics are subject to change):

10 a.m. Horse Anatomy/Treadmill - Drs. Dan Burba & Laura Riggs
11 a.m. Raptors (Birds of Prey) - Dr. Javier Nevarez
June 7
10 a.m. Boo's Amazing Rescue: Rescuing Sea Turtles following the Gulf Oil Spill - Dr. Shanna Seals
11 a.m. Animal Prosthetics - Niki Hansen
June 14
10 a.m. Shelter Medicine & Mobile Unit - Dr. Alison Salmon
11 a.m. Underwater Treadmill - Jennifer Bridges
June 19
10 a.m. Microscopic Mysteries - Solved! -Dr. Angela Royal
11 a.m. We Heart Animals: Veterinary Cardiology - Dr. Caryn Reynolds
June 21
10 a.m. Veterinary Anatomy - Dr. Martha Littlefield
11 a.m. How Pets Help Us: Tiger HATS - Stephanie Johnson
June 26
10 a.m. What's for Dinner? Feeding Exotic Pets - Dr. Tom Tully
11 a.m. The Eyes Have It: Veterinary Ophthalmology - Dr. Eric Storey
