LSU Museum of Art, Louisiana Culinary Institute Partner as Part of “Museum After Dark” Series on Thursday

Baton Rouge, La — The LSU Museum of Art has partnered with the Louisiana Culinary Institute for its popular Thursday evening series, “Museum After Dark,” on Thursday, June 21, for a cooking demonstration of French and American cuisine inspired by the museum’s current photographic exhibition, “A Tale of Two Cities: Eugène Atget's Paris and Berenice Abbott's New York.” The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. on the third floor of the Shaw Center for the Arts, 100 Lafayette Street.
The exhibition examines the work of two early photographers, inspired by their surroundings within New York and Paris. More than mere documentation, their photographs captured the cities at a point where old landmarks were rapidly disappearing. “A Tale of Two Cities: Eugène Atget's Paris and Berenice Abbott's New York,” is a series of striking photographs that shows a merging of old and new, and the effects of modernization on their city's architecture, transportation, residents and inherent culture. The exhibition will be on display through July 22.
Access to the event is free with $5 admission to the museum. University faculty, staff and students are admitted for free with their LSU I.D. and children 12 and under as well as museum members are also admitted for free.
