MuteMath plays first show in BR at Chelsea's Cafe
BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — MuteMath is no stranger to Louisiana. The New Orleans-based band has its roots in Cajun Country. But where they are a bit of a stranger is to the Capitol City. On Friday, Oct. 14, the band makes its first appearance at Chelsea’s Café.
“There were a few things that came together to make us want to do this type of tour,” Darren King, drummer for MuteMath, said when asked why they opted to perform this show. “One of the thoughts is that a lot of people always drive to New Orleans, and for once, we wanted to play a show here."
Armed with a new album, “Odd Ones,” a MuteMath performance is one that’s known for its high energy and intensity. Fans will get an added dose of that experience, as the band will perform a nearly two hour set. This is double the average set length for a touring performance. However, it will be vital given that the band is the only one performing during the night. No opening band is scheduled, which is something the band says is an added bonus.
“We love it,” King admitted. “It’s a lot less stressful.”
