In West Baton Rouge Parish, voters there will have the final word on closing time.

The issue up for vote is whether or not bars and nightclubs should stay open past 10 p.m. on Sunday nights.

Parish council voted back in May to ban bars from staying open past 10, but in June, council had to reverse their decision.

NBC33 found that people in Port Allen are split on the proposal.

“You have to get up early and go to work the next day, so you really should be prepared to go to work,” stated Monique Taylor. “I don't think the bar should be open late.”

“They should be able to stay open as long as they want,” said Leo Smith. “As long as there's no confusion or anything, ain’t nothing happening, just having a good time. I think they should stay open later.”

The proposal will be on the ballot all throughout West Baton Rouge parish.
