A massive music schedule has been unveiled for Jazz Fest 2012.

Headliners for the first weekend include Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, John Mayer, Al Green, Trombone Shorty and Bon Iver.

The second weekend will feature the Eagles, Foo Fighters, My Morning Jacket, Ne-Yo, Ani DiFranco, Bonnie Raitt, and Forence + the Machine.

Although those are some of the bigger powerhouse names, they’re not to overshadow the wealth of local talent that will grace the Jazz Fest stages. Those include such staples as The Neville Brothers, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, Rebirth Brass Band, Better Than Ezra, Cowboy Mouth, Givers, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Irma Thomas, George Porter, Theresa Andersson, Allen Toussaint, Amanda Shaw, Papa Grows Funk, Eric Lindell, The New Orleans Bingo! Show, and too many more to list.

Jazz Fest 2012 takes place April 27-29 and May 3-6. A formal announcement of the music schedule is set for Wednesday afternoon.
