Final week to see some LSU concerts is coming soon

This week is the last chance to catch several LSU School of Music ensembles in their final concerts of the year including the LSU Wind Ensemble and the Symphony Orchestra, Jazz bands and choirs.

On Monday, Nov. 14 the LSU Wind Ensemble performs at the Union Theater 7:30 p.m. led by Donald McKinney, the newly appointed director of wind ensembles and conducting, Program includes works by Darius Milhaud, Charles Ives and Scott Lindroth.View the full program here.

The Women's Chorus performs at St. Alban's Chapel Monday at 7:30 p.m. Program includes works by Felix Mendelssohn, Jean Berger, Gustav Holst and Aaron Copland among others. Free

Then, Thursday, Schola Cantorum performs at University United Methodist Church at 7:30 p.m. Free.
Program includes "Choral Dances from Gloriana" by Benjamin Britten and " Four Robert Burns Ballads" by James Mulholland. You can see the full program here.

 Jazz Chamber Groups coached by Bill Grimes and Brian Shaw, perform Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the LSU School of Music Recital Hall. Free.

Michael Borowitz, LSU Assistant Professor and opera coach, takes over conducting duties for the Symphony Orchestra's final concert of the year on Friday, Nov. 18, 7:30 p.m. at the Union Theater.

The program features LSU Assistant Professor of Voice Dennis Jesse, baritone, and includes Symphony No. 2 (Romantic) by Howard Hanson, Verdi's Overture to Luisa Miller, É sogno, o realtá? from Falstaff (Verdi), Il balen del suo sorriso from Il Trovatore (Verdi) and Prelude to Act III of La Traviata (Verdi). On Saturday, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. hear the music of Dinos Constantinides, LSU composer and director of the Louisiana Sinfonietta, at a preview of his works to presented at Carnegie Hall.

The concert at the LSU School of Music Recital Hall is FREE and will feature LSU soloists Michael Gurt, piano; Yova Milanova, violin; Griffin Campbell, saxophone; Hamiruge - The LSU Percussion Group; Brett William Dietz; and students Chris Hoefer; Daniel Heagney; and Samuel Trevathan.
