Travel Channel films Jambalaya cookoff in downtown BR

BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Host of the Travel Channel’s Bizarre Foods and award-winning television personality, chef and food critic Andrew Zimmern will be shooting a segment of his online MSN show Appetite for Life with Andrew Zimmern at Town Square in downtown Baton Rouge on Wednesday, Jan. 25 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and has chosen Capital Area United Way as the charity of record.
The segment will feature a cook off between the current and former world champion Jambalaya chefs, Tee Wayne Abshire and Carlos Braud, and sample plates of their famous Jambalaya will be sold for $5 with all proceeds donated to Capital Area United Way. Additionally, the downtown food trucks will be hosting their own “Cajun Food Truck Cook Off” with 10 percent of their revenue also being donated to Capital Area United Way. This event is being produced in cooperation with Appetite for Life with Andrew Zimmern, The Visit Baton Rouge Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, The Downtown Development District, Baton Rouge Film Commission and Capital Area United Way.
