LSU Continuing Education is offering a new "Introduction to Final Cut Pro" course in September, in partnership with the LSU Performing Arts Academy. It will teach participants how to edit professional-quality video.

During the course, participants will learn basic video editing techniques and progress to using the advanced features of Final Cut Pro X.

"Whether you're an amateur videographer or a professional editor, this course offers Final Cut Pro Instruction to individuals of all skill levels," said Ben Balser, instructor of the course. "Final Cut Pro X is a revolutionary new version of the world's most popular video editing software, and it will be the foundation of video editing for the next 10 years."

Balser is also Louisiana's only Apple certified Master Trainer and has been teaching courses on Apple Pro Applications for more than 12 years.

LSU Performing Arts Academy is holding its fall Open House on Aug. 27. An introduction of the course and demonstrations of Final Cut Pro X will be held at the event.

"I think it's crucial that we support the local film and TV industry so that people can pursue their talents right here in Louisiana," said Blake Wilson, director of the LSU Performing Arts Academy .

"Introduction to Final Cut Pro" runs September 12 - October 31 on Mondays from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Also, a three-day condensed version of the course will be held in November.
