Louisiana Arts & Film Organization (LAF) is entering the final month of submissions for their second annual screenwriting competition.

The contest accepts submissions from all writers for features, short films, webisodes, and television pilots. The field is then narrowed down to the ten best scripts and local film companies will be brought in to consult with the selection committee.

One or more screenplays will be picked to receive the Louisiana Arts & Film Best Feature Screenplay award, Louisiana Arts & Film Best Short Film award, and/or Louisiana Arts & Film Best Original Teleplay award.

Along with the award, LAF or sponsoring film companies may extend compensation for the writer in the form of a one-year option on the screenplay. If produced, the writer will have meaningful consultation during the filmmaking process.

Recently shooting wrapped on 2011’s short film winner, “The Freddies” by M.O. Walsh. The film was a collaboration between professional filmmakers and Baton Rouge Community College. The soundtrack for the short film will also be from local musicians and composers. It will be submitted to film festivals nationwide.
