Louisiana native and local filmmaker, Shanna Forrestall, has been chosen to be a recipient of the Women in Film mentorship program beginning in June 2011.

The mission of the Women in Film Mentoring Program is to nurture emerging talent in the entertainment industry by connecting individual WIF members with established professionals for a period of one year during which they benefit from one-on-one mentoring. Matches between mentors and mentees are made according to career interest and compatibility.

Forrestall has been assigned to an experienced TV producer who will meet with her one-on-one to discuss career plans, provide general advice on the entertainment industry, and provide social networking and participation in ongoing projects.

Forrestall has been a professional talent in the film and entertainment industry since 2004. Last year she produced her first short film entitled Where Strippers Go To Die that is now beginning the film circuit (www.wherestrippersgotodie.com), a series of videos for the Manav Kalyan Trust that supports schools for disabled children in India (www.enternamaste.com), and she also has a full length feature film project in development entitled Our Lady of the Pink Pussycat through her production service company, Louisiana Film Resources (www.lafilmresources.com).

“I’m thrilled to be chosen for this program and am looking forward to learning as much as possible. My goal, from the time I first got involved in the film industry years ago, was to bring more films to Louisiana, and I believe this program will help me with that objective.”-- Shanna Forrestall
