Donaldsonville, La — Ascension Parish Council Chairman Chris Loar presented a parish certificate of appreciation to the family of the late Dr. Donald A. Schexnayder, a former child psychiatrist with the Ascension Parish Counseling Center.

Parish Council Chairman Chris Loar made the presentation during the parish council meeting.

Dr. Schexnayder passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in December. He was a distinguished child psychiatrist who served not only the greater New Orleans area, but he also treated patients at the parish counseling center in Gonzales for 12 and a half years, said Suzanne Hamilton, director of the center.

“He was a much loved part of our family and we will miss him,” Hamilton said.
