NBC NATIONAL NEWS — Toyota has announced the global recall of almost 7.5 million vehicles to fix malfunctioning power window switches.
It's the largest single recall of vehicles since a Ford recall in 1996.
The recall affects almost 2.5 million vehicles here in the United States, including the Yaris, Rav4, Camry and Camry Hybrid, Highlander, and Corolla.
All of the impacted cars date between 2005 and 2010.
Toyota says the problem happens when grease is applied to the driver’s side window unevenly, which can cause the electric window control to melt.
“There have been no accidents whatsoever reported about this,” stated Jean-Yes Jault with Toyota. “There is no case of fire linked to this, so customers don't have to worry about the safety aspect. However, they should avoid applying their own lubricant if their window is not working properly."
Toyota wants you to contact your dealership if you have any questions about the recall.
