NBC NATIONAL NEWS — Health officials in Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana issued an advisory following an outbreak of salmonella.

Residents were urged to throw away any cantaloupes bought since early July.

The salmonella has been traced back to cantaloupes from southwest Indiana. Two people died and 141 nationwide have gotten sick.

Salmonella causes diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps.

Infants, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are affected most severely.
