Allegiant Airlines made an announcement that makes passengers pay for carry-on bags.

The bags that must be placed in overhead storage bins will cost you $35 dollars if not reserved in advance.

Allegiant will allow passengers one personal item free of charge, but only if it fits under the seat in front of them.

The new fee goes into effect today.

Allegiant has service to and from Shreveport here in Louisiana.

The airline now becomes the second U.S. airline to charge for carry-ons. Spirit Airlines announced its carry-on baggage fee back in April 2010.
