Honoring MLK's legacy

Honoring MLK's legacy

To honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, we were all asked to take part in a day of service. Here in the Capitol area, lots of people worked together to fulfill the late reverend's vision for a better America. The United Way joined hands with volunteers from City Year organization to clean up a local high school. The groups picked up trash and helped paint the basketball court at Belaire High School.

They also expanded the school's garden and reorganized it's library.

"It's important to not just think about this as a day off, but really a day on. It's a day of service where we can really build our community, invest in our community  and do that collaboratively," says Michele Robinson.

The project is one of thousands taking place across the country to honor King's commitment to community service.
