Some bus and truck drivers won't be able to use their cell phones on the road anymore, and there's a device that will make sure of it.
Brad Dutruch runs a company that has a large number of big trucks, so it's important to know that his drivers aren't texting behind the wheel. A device called cellcontrol puts a stop to that distrction. It actually disables phone calls, texting, and emails when the vehicle is on the move.
"It's just an open screen full of distraction for employees," cellcontrol vice president, Leigh Gilly says.
Dutruch's company, Compliance EnviroSystems, was one of cellcontrol's first customers. Dutruch loves the device. "You don't have to worry about it," he says. "You set your phone down when you get in the car and concentrate on the road."
Recently, the device got an upgrade. Now, large class A vehicles can have cellcontrol installed. The device can go in everything from 18-wheelers and school buses to forklifts and cranes. It's a piece of mind for employers.
