Capital City Celebrates Festival Latino
The Hispanic Apostolate of the Diocese of Baton Rouge sponsored the 24th annual "Festival Latino" in Baton Rouge on Sunday. The event was held on a 10 acre lot near The Catholic School for the Deaf on Brightside Drive. Attendees were able to experience the music, food, and dances of Central and South America and Spanish speaking areas of the Caribbean.
Organizer and and Hispanic Apostolate Director Father Rafael Juantorena says the festival is the Apostolate's biggest fundraising event of the year. He says proceeds from the festival help pay for outreach and programs for those who move to the Capital City from Spanish speaking countries.
