NEW IBERIA, LA (NBC33) — Burglars in Iberia Parish now have several firearms after breaking into a car over the weekend. The Sheriff’s Office notes, however, several other vehicles were also burglarized and all of them were unlocked.
The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the vehicle burglaries happened in the area of Plantation Drive and Rue De Lion in New Iberia. They all happened on Sunday, Oct. 21.
Officials say several firearms were stolen from one vehicle. Another vehicle also had contents removed, and three other vehicles showed signs of being disturbed, but nothing was taken.
Deputies say that all of the vehicles were unlocked at the time of the burglaries. They say it’s important for everyone to remove all valuables from unoccupied vehicles, and to always lock the doors.
We’re told deputies have increased patrol in those areas and surveillance is being conducted.
So far no suspect description has been given.
