September is Prostate Awareness Month

Johnnay Benjamin came on Baton Rouge Lagniappe to share about their free prostate screenings in support of September being Prostate Awareness Month. Benjamin shared that Prostate Cancer is the 2nd leading cancer death in men. Benjamin shared that men 40-55 need to talk with their doctor and that for men aged 50 who have no symptoms and no family history of prostate cancer should begin getting a regular prostate test . Men who have a family history of prostate cancer should begin getting regular prostate tests at age 45 or younger.
Benjamin shared that in support of National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, Mary Bird Perkins will offer 3 opportunities for free prostate cancer screenings : Sept. 5th - Mary Bird Perkins from 6-7:30 p.m. ; Sept at Webb Barber Shop from 9-12 a.m. ( Just show up) and On Sept 28th at the Walmart in Denham Springs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, go to www.marybird.org or call (225) 215-1234.
