Wayne Pacelle with the Humane Society of the U.S. shared about the fact that after Katrina he saw the great affection that animal owners had for their pets - many would not leave their pets behind- this and other issues inspired him to author a new book called : The Bond : Our Kinship with Animals , Our Call to Defend Them.  He will hold a book signing at Barnes and Nobles at Citiplace tonight at 7 p.m. On BR Lagniappe He shared about the travesty of big business puppy mills in the U.S. and his role with the Humane Society and local  law enforcement to inspect these businesses.  He shared that in these mills, animals are bred for sale, and that many have physical and health problems due to the businesses practices and that the animals are sold as high prices and are often sickly.  He then addressed the La. issue of cock-fighting and shared about the law to ban this practice.  To contact him call ( 202) 452-1100 or visit www.humanesociety.org
