BR Irish Club presents 'An Irish Christmas
Tuesday, November 22, 2011 - 3:49pm

The Baton Rouge Irish Club is proud to present "An Irish Christmas -  Songs and Music from West Cork" on Tuesday, December 13 at 7:00 PM at Harrington’s Downtown, 329 Florida Street in Baton Rouge.

This annual show is a collaborative effort of the Irish musical group Legacy and their longtime friend and frequent guest on stage, Mairtin Cogain.

The show is family friendly, blending a mix of Irish holiday carols and songs of the season with lively Irish instrumentals on the flute and fiddle for good measure.

Traditional songs and stories drawn from the seasonal celebrations of West Cork and neighboring Celtic lands will light up the holidays.

Mairtin’s narration brings to life the customs of Ireland and is accompanied by the band Legacy that includes Mairtin Cogain, percussion, vocals and storytelling; Don Penzien, guitar, bodhran and vocals; and Valerie Plested fiddle, whistle and vocals.

Tickets are $20 for the general public, $15 for Baton Rouge Irish Club members and $10 for students. Wine and refreshments are included in the ticket price. Tickets may be purchased online at or at the Elizabethan Gallery, located at 680 Jefferson Baton Rouge.
