BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Scott Morgan and four of his coworkers don't give blood regularly.
But for the first time in months, they were in the United Blood Center on Monday.
They decided they needed to do their part to show their support for injured deputies Jason Triche and Michael Boyington.
"Only thing we can do right now pray and give blood so we'll do both," says Scott Morgan.
According to United Bood Srvices every two seconds in the United States Someone needs blood, but the people that walk through their doors today hope that the pint of blood that they gave today helps show their appreciation for the officer who risked their lives to help keep us safe"
"They're underpaid for the amount of work that they do. They give their life everyday, really aren't paid the greatest in the world. so try to support them in any way we can.
And while those who give blood regularly like Steve Stage wish more people would follow his lead and give blood every eight weeks.
Constant donors like Steve Stage say if anything good comes out of Thursday's tragedy. It's more people lining up to give blood, to help those in need.
"It's a terrible tragedy that they were shot and I think people do respond to tragedies. It motivates some people to reach out more than they would otherwise," says Steve Stage.
