Baton Rouge, LA (NBC33) — Baton Rouge, LA (NBC 33) BRCC's Baseball team has been on fire-- they've won 22 of their last 26 games. L.J Dupey, BRCC’s Head Coach says he sees this team becoming a national contender.
The time has come for L.J Dupey and his BRCC Bears after losing 5 losing season seasons, his team currently holds the best winning percentage among collegiate teams in the Capital City.
Although Dupey admits LSU and Southern are top contenders in the baseball realm Assistant Coach Chris Count says “We want to be mentioned in the same sentence with those guys. Theres a lot of good baseball here in Baton Rouge and we want to be part of it.”
The Bears are loaded with local talent including former St. Amant Gator Lee Elisar who says he doesn’t mind playing second fiddle—he says “I kinda like it, I like being the underdog and proving to people we're good enough and it's good feeling to know we are good enough we just have to prove it.”
Denham Springs’ own Blaine Posey is just one of the many who will use BRCC as a springboard to another stop—he says “We look forward to when our guys are manning those teams. Right now southern has quite a few guys who have made a difference for them. Baton Rouge is a big sports community but they want winners and we're winners now and will continue to be winners. This place seats 1,500 people I think we can fill it up every ball game”
