Asthma rates among Americans have gone up over the past 10 years. New data from the Centers for Disease Control says new Asthma cases went up by more than 4 million during 2001- to 2009-- a year in which almost 1 in 12 Americans were diagnosed.

The increases were across all agre groups and demographics, but the percentage of children diagnosed was higher than adults.

Experts aren't sure why Asthma is on the rise especially considering the improvemetns in outdoor air quality and decreases in smoking.

Asthma triggers are usually found in the environment and include cigarette smoke, mold, and air pollution.
