BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33)- Supporters of the arts made their voices heard at the Capitol today.

With legislators looking to balance a $1.6 billion budget deficit, those who support the arts fear some of their programs could be on the chopping block.

Derek Gordon, CEO of the Arts Council of Baton Rouge, says that in addition to improving the quality of life for all Louisianans, the arts also help to bring millions of tourism dollars into the Bayou State.
