The Companion Animal Alliance took over shelter operations at the East Baton Rouge Animal Control on August 1, 2011 and has since been met with an overwhelming increase in abandoned animals. In efforts to alleviate the sudden influx of abandoned dogs and pressing needs of the new nonprofit Companion Animal Alliance, Yelp!BR is hosting two big adoption events.

Yelp!BR has been pulling healthy dogs in line for euthanasia at the EBR Animal Control since October of 2009. They hope to adopt out as many dogs as possible this weekend to make room for more pups in need from CAA. There will be two adoption locations this weekend, at Lake Sherwood Mall from 11-2 p.m. and the Yelp House from 11-3 p.m., located at 3205 Lanier Dr.

Yelp!BR is a nonprofit animal welfare organization started in 2009 by Commercial Properties Realty Trust in alliance with the No Kill Baton Rouge project of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation. Yelp!BR is committed to ending euthanasia of healthy and treatable companion animals in the Greater Baton Rouge Area by addressing pet overpopulation and animal suffering through education, appropriate action and providing care to animals in need by enhancing adoption and foster rates.
