NBC NATIONAL NEWS — One of the world's rarest endangered gorillas has been caught on videotape in Africa.

There are only about 250 to 300 Cross River gorillas in the wild.

The animals are elusive and listed as critically endangered.

Researchers set up cameras in the protected gorilla sanctuary earlier this year and recorded this footage.

Experts say the video contains some of the best images to date of Cross River gorillas, which flee at the slightest hint of human presence.

After a male Silverback runs past the camera, another gorilla missing a right hand walks across the frame from right to left.
