CHICAGO, IL (WGN) — A puppy who was thrown off a third floor balcony in East Garfield Park a few weeks ago will be adopted by one of the Chicago police officer who saved her.
The puppy, Cowgirl, was taken to PAWS, the city's largest no kill shelter.
Cowgirl is an energetic pit bull mix. She's about four months old. When she was thrown off the balcony May 10th, she fractured her elbow.
Matt Gozdal, one of the officers who were called to the scene fell in love with her and will adopt her.
He and his family will have their hands full because they already own a two year old female pit bull.
They're thinking of renaming the dog Monroe because he and his girlfriend are big fans of Marilyn Monroe.
22-year-old Jamille Marshall was arrested and charged with one felony count of aggravated cruelty to animals.
