LSU ambassador dog stolen?

UPDATE: Max, the Great Dane, was returned after a viewer saw this report and contacted the owner.

ORIGINAL STORY: He's a dog, with celebrity status and more well-known than his owners.

"Anywhere we go, I'm known as Max's owner," said Michael French. "Nobody knows my name."

A Great Dane, whose popularity is as big as he is.

"Thirty-two inches to the back of his neck," French said. "When he stands up, he looks you eye to eye. Six feet."

Max is well known, especially among LSU Tiger fans. The Great Dane loves Saturday's at Tiger Stadium and has become the unofficial ambassador for hundreds of visiting fans.

"Biggest thing he likes to do is go down to busses where visiting fans get off," said Brenda French. "And he's wearing tiger ears and shirt and they want to take pictures with him."

But now, Max is gone he escaped from his owners backyard on Saturday and hasn't been seen since. To make matters worse, his owners were told by witnesses he was stolen from the neighborhood nearby.

"SUV pulled over, pulled him in, haven't seen him since," Michael French said.

Max's owners filed a report with the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office and have put his face all over flyers, Facebook and other Internet postings, hoping to get their family member back..

"Oh it won't be the same, how will we tailgate without Max," said Brenda French, as she fought back tears. "We want him back."
