A Lafayette Parish Sheiff’s Deputy was bitten by a Boxer after the same dog attacked an 8-year-old boy.

On Tuesday, Dec. 20, the Sheriff’s Department received a call about a child who was bitten by a neighbords dog on Dula Street in Youngsville.

Upon arriving at the scene, the Sheriff Deputy attempted to track down the dog in question.

We’re told the child was playing with the neighbor’s dogs, but one of the three turned violent and bit the youth on the shoulder. When the deputy located the dogs, one attacked him, biting his forearm. The deputy fired his handgun and struck one of the dogs in the leg. The animal fled and has yet to be located by Animal Control.

Two of the other dogs were recovered and are currently in possession of the Lafayette Animal Control.

It is believed that one of the two dogs recovered was struck by a car on LA Hwy 92. That animal is currently being treated by Animal Control.

The owners of the three Boxers could face possible charges. A name has not been released yet.
