LYDIA, LA (FOX44) — The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says a black bear is on the loose in Iberia Parish.
Apparently, the three hundred pound beast really loves leftovers. He's been going after garbage cans in Lydia for as many as three years.
A wildlife biologist is in the area teaching residents how to "bear-proof" their trashcans. We're told the bear is on the hunt for food before winter.
Wildlife and Fisheries agents have set up traps, but haven't had any luck catching the bear.
If you're in the area and see a bear, don't approach it! Contact the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
