Animal lover of all kinds came out to a unique baby shower at Perkins Rowe Sunday. Kleinpeter dairy hosted a party for it's famous "Sweetie Pie" cow. Sweetie Pie gave birth to a brand new calf Tuesday.

Instead of a shower Kleinpeter teamed up with the Friends of the Animals to host an animal adoption event to get dogs and cats new homes.

The animals all came from the Baton Rouge shelter or foster homes but need a permanent place stay.

Fifth generation dairy farmer Taylor Kleinpeter says the family's Sweetie Pie didn't want gifts to celebrate her new calf instead she just wanted to help the animals.

"We want to help out these animals,” said Kleinpeter. “All the donations and proceeds will go straight to them: to help get them adopted, get them food, and bring down the euthanization rate. We sure love animals and we don't want to see them not have good homes."
